Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791) is thought to be one of the greatest composers of Western music. He wrote prolifically in his short life for all genres - choral operas and oratorios, chamber works for many diverse ensembles, and symphonic works and concertos for many instruments. Mozart was composing by the time he was 5, and was also a talented violinist and pianist.This piece was written around 1788 was originally composed as one of his many sonatas for violin and piano.This trio for two violins and viola is tuneful and rewarding to play, and accessible to strong intermediate students, amateurs and professionals.
